The MT5 platform is able to connect to electronic communication networks (ECNs) through designated gateways, making it possible to trade directly with other traders instead of with a market maker. This allows for trading with much tighter spreads than is normally possible, while instead paying commissions on each trade. For this reason, many professional and high-volume traders prefer trading with true ECN brokers rather than other types of brokers.
