Comprehensive review

Update: As of October 2019, Exness has issued a statement saying it no longer accepts individual retail clients in the EU/EEA and UK. The broker’s retail business outside of Europe will still continue as normal.

Founded in 2008, Exness is today a large broker with a local presence in many parts of the world. It is heavily regulated by both the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), and the Seychelles Financial Services Authority (SFSA), in addition to being licensed by several other European regulators for doing business in the EU/EEA area.

Exness is well-known for being a high-profile sponsor of Real Madrid, and football player Cristiano Ronaldo. The company has seen a rapid growth in its total trading volume since its humble beginnings in 2008, and has among other things won the ‘Best MT4 Forex Broker’ award by AtoZForex.com.

Depending on the jurisdiction a client belongs to, Exness offers trading instruments ranging from forex, to individual shares, commodities, precious metals, and cryptocurrencies. As with most brokers we have reviewed here on FX-List, all assets offered by Exness are traded in the form of CFDs with built-in leverage.

A special thing to note about Exness is the very high trading leverage it offers to its clients outside of the EU/EEA (Exness.com). In theory, Exness claims its leverage is unlimited, although it also mentions that the actual amount of leverage a client can get access to will depend on his or her account size as well as the prevailing market conditions. Detailed information about this, and a convenient calculator for estimating the maximum leverage, can be found on the “Margin and Leverage” page of the broker’s website.

In terms of trading platforms, Exness offers the standard MetaTrader 4 and 5. The platforms are available in the usual versions for Mac and Windows computers, as well as in a web-based version and a mobile version for Android and iOS devices.

There are two types of accounts available on both MT4 and 5: The Standard Account and the Professional Account. Standard accounts have a minimum deposit of just USD 1, but come with relatively wide spreads starting from 0.3 pips.

The Professional Account, on the other hand, has a much higher minimum deposit requirement of USD 200. There are also three different versions of the professional account, depending on the client’s trading style; a Raw Spread account with low spreads and commissions of USD 3.5 per lot, a Zero Spread account with the same commissions, and a Pro account with commission-free trading and spreads from 0.1 pips.

As usual, deposits and withdrawals can be made through a variety of methods, including credit and debit cards, bank transfer, as well as the popular e-wallet services Neteller, Skrill, Yandex Money, and others. In addition, we are also pleased to see that Exness accepts Bitcoin and Tether (USDT) for deposits and withdrawals, although this only applies to users based outside of the EU/EEA.

One way Exness truly stands out is with its focus on quality customer service. We are happy to see that Exness is among the brokers that have chosen to have customer service agents available for its clients 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, for both English and Chinese languages. Customer service is also available in 11 other languages (Russian, Thai, Malay & Indonesian, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi & Urdu, Tamil, Bengali, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Korean), which makes the broker a good choice for traders from all corners of the globe. In addition to phone support, customer service is also available via email, as well as a request for call-back option.
