Forex & CFD brokers from around the world have for a long time flocked to Cyprus due to the favorable regulatory environment there, administered and enforced by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). In recent years, however, new rules from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) have made the country less attractive to both PAMM forex brokers and others. To a large extent, this is due to strict limits on the amount of leverage that can be offered to retail traders.
Despite stricter regulations today compared to a few years ago, Cyprus is still home to many brokerage companies that offer PAMM trading accounts. It is still one of the most popular jurisdictions in Europe for forex brokers to incorporate in, which has been a clear benefit to the Cyprus economy in recent years.
