Traditionally referred to as “the silver to bitcoin’s gold,” Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that was developed in 2011 as a faster and cheaper alternative to Bitcoin, ideal for making smaller payments for everyday items. For this reason, many forex brokers that accept Bitcoin also accept Litecoin. Most of these brokers are happy to let traders fund trading accounts with Litecoin because it means an account will be funded faster than with other payment methods.
Litecoin has remained popular through the years, partly thanks to its branding efforts as a complement to Bitcoin, rather than a replacement for it. The cryptocurrency also has a large community backing it that encourage use for everyday spending.
