Released in 2010 as the successor of MT4, MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is a trading platform that is offered by a large number of Australian ASIC-regulated forex brokers. However, the adoption of the platform by the trading community has often been said to be slow, mostly because it was not backwards compatible with the vast library of trading strategies and indicators developed for MT4.
One thing to note is that nearly all brokers that offer the MT5, also offer at least the MT4, and usually a few other trading platforms as well, giving traders more choices. And since the vast majority of brokers offer both versions of MetaTrader, changing from one broker to another is now as easy as ever.
