Vanuatu is an island nation in the South Pacific off the coast of Australia which has been a popular offshore jurisdiction for financial services companies for quite some time. The nation is currently home to a number of social trading forex brokers, with leverage often going as high as 1:400 for non-professional traders.
Unlike some of the popular Caribbean jurisdictions, Vanuatu does regulate social trading forex brokers and most other companies in the financial services industry. The national regulator is called the Vanuatu Financial Services Commission (VFSC), and it is known to take a much more laid-back approach to financial regulation than typical Western regulators such as Australia’s ASIC and Europe’s ESMA.
