All French-registered forex brokers are regulated by the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution (ACPR), which is the French government’s financial regulatory agency. As with all other EU countries, the ACPR is in turn under the supervision of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), which imposes its own strict regulations on forex brokers in France and elsewhere in Europe.
As part of the ESMA system, forex brokers registered with their headquarter in France are also free to market their services in any other ESMA country without applying for a separate forex broker license there. This means that forex brokers in France don’t necessarily serve only French traders, but also traders from all around Europe.
