Due to crackdowns by several regulators around the world, binary options trading is not as widespread as it once was, and this type of trading has now been banned by Australia’s ASIC, as well as in all countries that are members of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). Despite this, some low spread forex brokers that also offer binary options trading are still operating out of various offshore jurisdictions, and traders from most countries will still be able to trade with these.
Since binary options differ from forex & CFD trading in several important ways, for example in that there are no spreads and no leverage in binary options, these instruments are usually traded on designated binary trading platforms. However, there are also trading platforms that can handle both traditional forex trading and binary options. In addition, add-ons that can enable binary options trading also exist for certain trading platforms, such as MetaTrader 4.
