Similar to Cyprus, Malta is another small European nation that has been popular among binary options brokers and other financial services firms for many years. Just as in other EU countries, however, the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) is also required to comply with regulations from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) that severely restricts binary options trading.
Despite this, some binary options brokers still have registered offices in Malta, although these will only offer traditional forex trading to EU-based clients. Clients from other parts of the world, however, may still be able to trade binary options with these brokers. Because of the strict regulations on binary options trading in the EU, EU-based binary options traders may instead want to look into a broker that is based outside of the EU, such as in Australia.
