Comprehensive review

CrownFX (officially CrownFX Markets Ltd) is a forex & CFD broker that operates from an undisclosed location and (as far as we know) is not regulated by any government agency. This means that traders considering the broker should be aware that CrownFX does not provide the same level of regulatory oversight and investor protection as brokers licensed by well-known authorities in jurisdictions such as the EU, UK, or Australia.

The broker states that it operates under “a licensed financial services framework” and follows conduct, reporting, and client-protection requirements in the jurisdictions where it does business. However, CrownFX does not identify its licensing authority, registered entity, or operating jurisdiction on its website, which makes these claims difficult for prospective clients to verify.

The main benefit of trading with CrownFX is the low entry requirement combined with a fairly broad range of CFD markets. Being an offshore broker, it also offers much higher leverage than brokers based in for example the EU or Australia, which for some traders can be beneficial.

In terms of trading instruments, CrownFX offers more than 80 forex pairs, more than 15 crypto pairs, 10 index CFDs, 5 metal CFDs, 3 energy CFDs, and CFDs on more than 40 US-listed stocks. The range includes major and minor forex pairs, popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), global equity indices, precious metals such as gold and silver, crude oil and natural gas.

CrownFX offers three live account types:
– Mini, with spreads from 0.3 pips and $0.30 commission per side
– ECN, with spreads from 0.1 pips and $3 commission per side
– Zero Commission, with spreads from 0.9 pips and no commissions

All three account types have a minimum deposit of just $10, and offer up to 1:500 leverage.

All CrownFX accounts trade through TradeLocker, a well-known web-based platform that is also available as a mobile app for Apple and Android devices. The platform includes customizable chart layouts, one-click order placement, all commonly used technical indicators and drawing tools, as well as various risk management controls.

The broker advertises fast execution and says that orders can be filled in milliseconds. It also states that spreads are variable and may widen during volatility, news events, certain market hours, and depending on the instrument traded. This is especially important to keep in mind for scalpers, news traders, and other short-term traders who need to focus on keeping spreads as tight as possible.

CrownFX currently accepts deposits in major cryptocurrencies, while card deposits are described as “on the way.” The broker says that withdrawal minimums depend on the payment method and are displayed in the client portal before a request is confirmed. It also claims that client money is held in segregated accounts with banking partners and kept separate from company operating capital, which in most jurisdictions is a regulatory requirement anyway.

For help with any problems during trading or the sign-up process, traders can contact CrownFX's support team via email. Unfortunately, phone support and even live chat is unavailable from this broker, and there is also no information about the support team's working hours. We therefore have to assume that support is only available during regular working hours.

All in all, CrownFX may be of interest to traders looking for a low minimum deposit, high leverage broker that accepts crypto deposits. However, the lack of a disclosed location, and lacking information about its regulatory status, is a major drawback. For that reason, we believe CrownFX is best approached cautiously, particularly by those who plan to deposit a significant amount of money.
